THEME:"Praising God on the Threshold"

NOTES:We have lots to celebrate today! We appreciate our mothers, aunts, grandmothers and friends who have raised us! We are joining in relief and gratitude the joy of our graduates from high school and college! We have nearly 150 new baby hats to send off to the HANDS program! We have made some great strides in stewardship and giving that are blooming into wonderful ministry! So we're ready to clap our hands and shout for joy as we stand on the edge of all these new moments. We know that God who has brought us this far by faith, will lead us on!

SCRIPTURE: Psalm 47 & Ephesians 1:15-19
Psalm 47
Clap your hands, all you peoples; shout to God with loud songs of joy.
For the LORD, the Most High, is awesome, a great king over all the earth.
He subdued peoples under us, and nations under our feet.
He chose our heritage for us, the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah
God has gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.
For God is the king of all the earth; sing praises with a psalm.
God is king over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.
The princes of the peoples gather as the people of the God of Abraham. For the shields of the earth belong to God; he is highly exalted.

Ephesians 1:15-19
I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason
I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers.
I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him,
so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints,
and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power.

 For this reason, since we know about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, we will not stop giving thanks for you, remembering you in our prayers. We will keep asking that the God may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know God better and better as you grow. We pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which God has called you, the riches of the glorious inheritance we all have as God's children, and God's incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength of love which conquered death and brought new life to us all. Amen.

Praying Together
O God,
Today we take a little extra time to thank you for our mothers; and for all those who mother us;

For nursing us warmly through fragile years;
For helping us feel good about ourselves when we hurt and discouraged;
For skillfully guiding and guarding us as we grow older;
For learning when to let us go;
For enduring our sicknesses and their own;
For carpooling;
For the times they could have, but did not, say: "I told you so"
For the sounds of music and laughter  and praying;
For a love that reaches beyond family, to neighbors and friends and community;
For their accomplishments outside the home in commerce, politics, science, medicine, education, and so much more.

Today we pray for all those for whom Mother's Day brings painful thoughts;
Let each of them feel your strong arms reaching out to lift them up, to comfort them and to restore their spirits.
For all these reasons and more, we give thanks for our mothers, and all who mother us, and ask your blessings upon them. Where they have given, may they receive your rich grace and blessing. Where they have poured out their hearts, may their hearts be filled with new love.

This we pray, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
