WORSHIP ORDER

Welcome
Opening Song
Lighting the Christ Candles  We light our candles or lights.
Voice One: In the beginning, God said,
Voice Two: Let there be light, and there was light!
Voice One: We light these candles today,
Voice Two: Because God is with us in this time and in this place!

Call to Worship
Leader: When we stand at the edge of fear and worry,
People: God invites us to step into the waters of faith and trust.
Leader: When we stand at the edge of the world's pain and need,
People: Jesus invites us to step into the land of humble service.
Leader: When we stand at the edge of our hunger and thirst:
People: the Spirit invites us to sit at the Table of grace.
Leader: Let us worship God together!

Invocation
Mighty God, who speaks a word of peace to calm our troubled sea; Caring God, who nudges us away from fear and toward faith; Ever-present God, who fills us with awe but also raises many questions without easy answers;
Open our eyes to see you in our boat—today. Strengthen our hearts for the challenges that lie ahead. Open our ears this hour to hear the word you speak. This we pray, In Jesus’ name. Amen

Communion Music

The Lord's Supper
We come forward to receive the bread and cup and share our offering as we hear the music.

Words of Institution  We partake of  the bread and cup.

Prayer of Thanksgiving: The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.  Amen.

Joys & Concerns

Morning Prayer
God, our heavenly Father, each of us today has chosen someone to pray for, a father, a grandfather, an uncle, a dad, a friend, an older brother, a son...someone who does the work of fathering in this world.
Lord, we lift their names to you.
Provide for this man everything he needs, for his spirit, soul, body, finances, and relationships. Give him rest today; rejuvenate him and give him the recreation that revives his life and prepares him for the work ahead. Renew his strength; give him health and keep him fit for his work and his service.
Lord, we lift their names to you.
Give him the wisdom and guidance he needs to make decisions that will profit his soul. Provide discernment. When he faces challenges, may he know that he doesn’t face them alone. Give him courage as he walks through the tough times, knowing that you are right there with him, protecting him and defending him.
Lord, we lift their names to you.

Bless him with the desires of his heart, giving him joy and abundant provision. Anoint him for the work you have given him to do, and let him experience honor and respect in all his relationships. Give him complete joy today, opening his eyes to the many blessings you have given him.
Lord, we lift their names to you.
May these blessings chase him down every day of his life. May eternal life be his and may he taste Heaven on earth. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Challenge to Discipleship

Blessing     We speak in unison.
The Light that was in one place and at one time, is now in all places and all times, for God has placed the light in us. We go forth in peace!
