Theme: Prayer provides energy for healing.
Sound Notes: We need to do the same communion hymn again, if possible, so people can learn it. I think they will like it when they know it. Also, it's much easier on the musicians if the opening and closing for the 10:40 service stay the same for several weeks--it helps with preparing the slides as well. If they really need to change, that's fine, or if we decide to take them out of the service altogether, that's fine also. Thanks, Lisa

Reference Scriptures: Mark 1:29-39
The contrast between these healing stories and the previous one at the synagogue makes it clear that Jesus did not heal to impress big crowds of important people. He simply reached out to do what he could for people he met. When he went home with his friends for supper, he healed Peter's sick mother-in-law. When people came to the door asking for help he healed them.
This story also gives a glimpse into Jesus' private prayer life. He withdrew into the wilderness, or rather tried to. The story of Jesus' withdrawal for prayer is attractive illustration of how important prayer was to Jesus. Without prayer Jesus would not have the energy to heal.
