NOTES:Part one of three. We take a look at how our relationship with God IS our preparation to be welcome at the table of love. We do not earn our place there, rather we recognize it by remembering just who God is and giving thanks for all God has done for us. We prepare with praise!
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 34:1-8 (NRSV)
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me,
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Look to him, and be radiant;
so your[a] faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.
and delivered me from all my fears.
5 Look to him, and be radiant;
so your[a] faces shall never be ashamed.
6 This poor soul cried, and was heard by the Lord,
and was saved from every trouble.
7 The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
8 O taste and see that the Lord is good;
happy are those who take refuge in him.

Praying Together
Creator God, Christ our Savior, Spirit of Comfort, we open our hearts in love and praise. We think of you, Jesus, our mentor and friend, whose ministry and life were constantly clothed in love. And we hold our awareness of your loving qualities close to us as we pray.
When our spiritual clothes get grubby with negativity and neglect, may we have the desire and energy to clean them.
When our spiritual clothes droop, sag, bunch, bind or otherwise, just don't fit, may we have the wisdom and determination to let our words and actions change to fit your will.
When our spiritual clothes need changing, may we have the ability to make good decisions and the courage to follow through with the necessary changes.
When our spiritual clothes are torn and need mending, may we make amends and be open to forgiveness and reconciliation.
When our spiritual clothes are not acceptable to others, may we have confidence in our identity as your children to be ourselves, and not give in to the demands of others.
When our spiritual clothes become thin and frayed, may we strengthen them with your garments of loving kindness.
O Christ, transform all that we are and all that we do into the kind of love that permeated your life on earth among us. Clothe us with your love and grant us grace to be truly kind and caring. May our spiritual clothes be spun from the gold of your goodness and fit us for the place you are making for us at the table of your kingdom. Amen.
